In mid-October, two members of the Grace Consulting team headed to the Chesford Grange Hotel, just south of Coventry. They were attending the St. James's Place National Care Conference where roughly 200 St. James's Place Partners from all across the county were in attendance.
Throughout the day six speakers covered topics from living with dementia to the future of social care. The Grace team managed to break away from the stand to listen to a very interesting but disturbing talk by Professor Keith Brown of Bournemouth University about financial scamming of the elderly. He exposed the ways that many different charities and sales companies take advantage, unnecessarily reselling the same items to the same people to reach targets.
Grace had our own stand at the Conference from where we interacted with many Partners of St. James's Place, handing out leaflets and explaining how our independent care advice services can help them and their clients. Our leaflets were distributed quickly throughout the day - no such luck with the bowl of sweets… Next time the team will make sure to take a more popular choice of confectionery!
Special thanks goes to St. James's Place for hosting the National Care Conference and for their great organisation and hospitality. It was a very interesting day for all and Grace looks forward to returning again next year.
